We chatted to Emma about her involvement in our youth advisory board:
What is the youth advisory board?
“The youth advisory board is a network of young people (11-25) from Coventry and Warwickshire who essentially communicate their thoughts and contribute to Coventry and Warwickshire mind as well as the larger community. Our selected name is ‘wakeup call’, with the goal of causing people to ‘wake up’ and acknowledge how important everyone’s voice is in allowing society to thrive.”
What do you get up to?
“This role provides numerous chances and responsibilities. These opportunities involve being on an interview panel, creating advertisements (leaflets, posters, etc.) and social media content (TikTok and Instagram), attending and planning events, raising awareness in the local community, and overall contributing the perspectives of young people to the trustees who oversee the organisation.”
What events do you have coming up?
“We are currently arranging a fun family event called ‘Calm Your Mind’, which will include engaging activities and entertainment. It will be hosted at Broad Street Rugby Club on Wednesday, August 14th. This event will be enjoyable and motivating for the everyone, featuring food, music, crafts, stalls and more, all arranged by the youth advisory board.”
“There will also be sessions where people may speak about mental health and ask questions, with artist Mac Backwardz as one of the guest speakers, discussing his latest album, which was influenced by his own problems with mental health. With free entry, this is an opportunity for young people of all ages to come relax, hence the name ‘calm your mind’, and learn more about mental health.”
