Some stories don’t end when you turn the final page.

Sometimes, they’re only just beginning.

This week, Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind had the privilege of celebrating the incredible Itoro Abigeal Oyewobi and the launch of not one, but three books!

Three very different books, but behind them is one incredibly passionate person with a genuine desire to use her voice, her experiences and her creativity to make a difference.

And that’s exactly what Itoro is doing.

Before the launch, we had the pleasure of welcoming Itoro to our Children and Young People’s Service, where she was able to learn more about the work happening every day to support children, young people and their families with their mental health and wellbeing.

Her energy is infectious.

Her passion for young people is clear.

And her determination to use what she is creating to have a positive impact across her community is truly inspiring.

It made her decision surrounding the launch of her books even more special.

Itoro has made the incredibly generous commitment to donate 100% of her author royalties to three charities rooted in her local community:

πŸ’™ Coventry, Warwickshire & Worcestershire Mind
β˜€οΈ Tiny Tim’s Children’s Centre
πŸ’œ Age UK Coventry & Warwickshire

For us, this isn’t simply about fundraising.

It’s about what those funds can help make possible.

It’s about supporting children and young people who may be struggling with their mental health.

It’s about helping families know they don’t have to navigate difficult moments alone.

And it’s about creating opportunities for conversations around mental health to start earlier, so that young people know that asking for support is okay.

At the launch, our Deputy CEO, Alethea Balbuena, spoke alongside Zoe Hutchinson, Head of Operations for Children and Young People’s Services, about the importance of this work and the difference the right support, at the right time, can make in a young person’s life.

It was incredibly powerful to see that message sitting at the heart of a celebration of books, creativity and community.

Because books have the ability to do something very special.

They can educate.

They can empower.

They can help someone recognise themselves in a story.

They can start conversations that might otherwise never happen.

And in Itoro’s case, these books will now go even further helping to generate support for organisations working within the very community that inspired her passion.

We want to say an enormous thank you to Itoro for choosing Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind as one of the beneficiaries of her work, and congratulations on the launch of three incredible books.

But above all, thank you for your passion.

Thank you for championing children and young people.

Thank you for believing in the power of community.

And thank you for choosing to use your success to help create opportunities for others.

We are incredibly excited to see where Itoro’s journey takes her next, and we are proud that we get to be a small part of it.

Three books. One passionate author. And an impact that reaches far beyond the pages. πŸ’™
