Background
St Clair Gardens is a 24-hour recovery unit that provides a safe, nurturing environment for adults with mental health needs. Our focus is on empowering residents to develop essential life skills and emotional resilience, preparing them for a transition into more independent living within the community. With 14 beds, our facility caters to residents with varying levels of support, from practical life skills to emotional regulation.
A Gym in St Clair Gardens We are excited to announce that the fundraiser for St Clair Gardens raised over £7500 and this World Mental Health Day we were able to install gym equipment for the residents to use. The fitness equipment will help our residents stay active and improve both their physical and mental wellbeing. Physical activity plays a crucial role in mental health recovery, and for our residents, a safe and accessible space to exercise is essential.
One of our residents shared their thoughts on the benefits of exercise:
“The gym equipment will help us to keep fit and healthy. It’s much safer to exercise here for me, and it would be a good way to get fit. Exercise is good for my mental health; once I’ve done it, I feel a positive mindset.” — St Clair Gardens resident
The gym equipment will allow our residents to engage in regular exercise, which can lead to improved physical fitness, enhanced mood, and increased self-esteem. This initiative aligns with our mission of promoting independence and well-being, as we believe that a healthy body supports a healthy mind.
Fundraising activities
“A massive thank you to everyone who got behind our fundraiser. Thank you to our incredible staff team here at St Clair Gardens! We saw such dedication and energy for this fundraiser — from organising cake and bake sales, craft stalls, and car boot sales to staff even running the Wolf Run—all in support of raising funds for our gym for residents. Your commitment and passion for improving the lives of our residents is truly inspiring, and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this team!” — Joanne Carsley-Beale, Registered Manager/RMN St Clair Gardens
And a huge thank you to Simply Gym, Musical Theatre Warwick University, Charities Trust, and Joshua Henry at Absolute Fitness for the generous donations towards this Fundraiser. The staff team wanted to name the gym room after Joshua’s business name. The gym is called Absolutely Mindful Gym.
“Absolute fitness improves your mental fitness as well as your physical fitness. The best form of therapy for me and for so many others is the gym. I want to help people feel how I feel after completing a workout.” Joshua Henry, Absolute Fitness
Thank you to all who participated and donated to this cause! Together, we enhanced the lives of the wonderful residents at St Clair Gardens by providing them with the tools to live healthier, more active lives. We are creating a future where both mental and physical wellbeing are supported in a caring, community-driven environment.
