The Children and Young People’s engagement team have been involved in several recent events across local communities throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. The events are a great way of sharing news of our current services as well as hearing from young people regarding the planning and delivery of future programmes. Some highlights include Godiva Festival, Coventry College Freshers’ Fair and university wellbeing days.
One of our current focuses is the cost of living crisis – exploring the issues young people are facing today and what support they feel they need to make a difference to their wellbeing.
These interactive events include creative activities such as making bracelets and stress balls, decorating mirrors with positive messages and using blackboards for sharing messages to help young people to stay mentally well and for them to share their future hopes for the year ahead.
Our pop-up selfie pod was a such a great success in October for Hats on 4 Mental Health that it will be at the Albany Theatre from 30 December until 8 January during performances of Cinderella.
Over the past few months, the RISE Children Looked After team has experienced many staff changes, but has never lost sight of what matters most: providing a solid and cohesive service to the young people we see. The team strive to be dynamic, agile and reflective, working hard to refresh internal processes for efficiency. Staff have introduced a multidisciplinary approach to better utilise the skills and expertise of each staff member and link with wider services across RISE. Two skills-based groups are due to be launched in 2023: Nurturing Attachments and Emotional Regulations. This service expansion models the kind of resilience we hope to see in our service users.
