Popping into McDonald’s for a quick burger or cup of coffee, the last thing you’d probably expect to see is someone offering mental health support. Well, for Mental Health Awareness Week, that’s exactly what Coventry and Warwickshire Mind did.

Team Leader, Dee, hosted six pop-up stalls at McDonald’s restaurants in Coventry, talking to customers about what mental health support is available in their local area. Dee supported staff, customers and emergency service workers by signposting to our support services, including our out-of-hours crisis service, and talking about topics such as sleep and stress management.

We had some great feedback, including one customer who said:

“I didn’t expect the service provided today and I was very grateful for it.”

Dee and Coventry and Warwickshire Mind’s marketing team also worked with the franchise owner, John Kiely MBE, to produce a short film about the work the two organisations have been doing together. John said:

“I am so proud to offer this vital support in all my restaurants – we’re offering this support to everyone in the community, not just customers. With the current rise of mental health issues, it’s critical as a local business owner that I do my part to give back to our local community.”
