On Saturday 6 September, The Yard in Coventry held a bikeathon fundraiser to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. Over 14 hours, riders clocked up an incredible 649 miles, shining a light on the stark realities of lives lost to suicide and the ongoing need for support.
The event was about raising awareness and starting conversations. We spoke one-to-one with more than 250 people, many of whom shared their own experiences of how suicide has affected them or their loved ones, and the support that has helped them through.
The day was made even stronger thanks to support from Stay Strong United, the Corsairs United in Coventry and drag performer Tina Tuna. Their energy and commitment kept spirits high and pedals moving.
Together, we raised almost £250, funds that will go directly toward continuing vital support for those affected by suicide through our evening crisis service, Safe Haven.
Most importantly, we stood in remembrance of those we’ve lost and in solidarity with everyone living with the impact of suicide.
