On Saturday 23 August, we took our wellbeinfg vehicle to Saltfest, Droitwich for the very first time. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the canal, the event created a varied day, from mock Viking villages and battle re-enactments to community stalls and live music performances.

Throughout the festival, we connected with many visitors of all ages, each bringing their own stories, questions and curiosity. Our staff spent time in meaningful conversations, often signposting people towards local mental health and wellbeing peer support groups, self-help information and resources, and wider sources of help across the county.

For many, these chats were not just casual exchanges; they were the first step towards support, or a reminder that they do not have to face challenges alone.

Our vehicle proved its worth once again. More than just a van, it became a safe and welcoming space where people felt comfortable enough to talk about often difficult and personal issues. Amid the lively festival atmosphere, it offered a pocket of calm and connection a place to pause, reflect and feel heard.

Salt Fest was a wonderful chance to engage with the Droitwich community, and we are already eager for future events. Every conversation we had, whether about peer support groups, managing wellbeing or simply sharing a smile or connecting with a friendly dog, reminded us of the strength of community bonds in breaking down stigma and promoting better mental health.
