This weekend, Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind proudly joined the joyful celebration at Nuneaton Pride 2025, bringing with us not only our colourful resource vehicle but a commitment to inclusion, mental health awareness and community care.
Local LGBTQIA+ voices matter
Nuneaton is home to a growing and vibrant LGBTQIA+ community. According to the most recent census, over 2,600 people (2.5%) in Nuneaton and Bedworth identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual. Among younger residents (under 35), 1 in 20 identify as LGBTQIA+, and more than 400 people (0.4%) have a gender identity different from their sex at birth with the highest representation among young adults.
These statistics reflect not just numbers, but the real people whose identities, stories and wellbeing matter deeply.
Creating safe, supportive spaces
The event began with heartfelt speeches from the Lord Mayor of Nuneaton and the High Sheriff, who both emphasised the importance of acceptance, diversity and tackling isolation, especially among LGBTQIA+ individuals who often face barriers to support.
Throughout the day, our team hosted a safe, welcoming space where everyone could feel seen, heard and supported. We engaged in over 200 meaningful conversations, signposted individuals to essential mental health and wellbeing services, fostered a space where every voice was valued and provided a safe quiet space for those who felt overwhelmed.
