Peer Support Workers
Helping young adults build confidence, skills and a bright future.
Our Peer Mentor Support Service believes every young adult deserves the support they need to navigate life’s challenges. Whether you’re facing difficulties with your mental health, struggling to find direction or simply looking for a safe space to make connections, we’re here for you. Our team offers a safe, welcoming space where you can build confidence, learn new skills and take steps toward a more positive future.
We offer personalised support focused on wellbeing and self-belief. Through one-to-one sessions and group activities, we help young adults strengthen their confidence, develop a positive mindset and understand how their mental health affects daily life, with opportunities to connect socially with others, explore new ways to cope with stress and build meaningful relationships in a supportive environment.
Alongside emotional support, we help with the practical things too. This includes support with housing and money management. We can also help explore options for going into education or work, work on everyday life skills like cooking and communication and support accessing healthcare appointments and referrals to other services when needed.
We can support young adults who are:
- Aged 16.5–25, who have not accessed NHS mental health interventions in the past six months;
- Aged 16.5–25, leaving care, and at risk of accessing mental health services;
- Aged 16.5–18, transitioning through pathways from children and young people’s to adult mental health services.
How to refer
Young adults can be referred by multi-agency partners. We will only accept self-referrals if no services are currently involved but would still encourage young adults to visit their GP. Following a referral, a support worker or buddy will be matched with young adults by the Service Manager according to their needs and interests.
